In the midst of the busy, sparkling holiday season, we’ve found that a Christ-centered Christmas countdown helps us pause in sweet, peaceful celebration of our Savior’s birth.
With four kids ranging preschooler to tween (and plenty of activities filling up our holiday docket!) we needed something that could somehow be both simple and sacred.
This is what we found!
Our Favorite Christ-Centered Christmas Countdown
Last year, as I was grasping for ways to focus more on Christ as a family, I
came across this simple, perfect scripture advent by author Brooke Romney.
I bought it on Etsy, and printed it out at home (Yay! Quick and easy!) to try with my kids.
It was the sweetest experience!

A Scripture Countdown that Focuses our Christmas on Christ
Each night before bed, we gather the kids on the sofa for our tiny devotional.
We begin by reading the short section of scripture written on the front. They are short–usually just a handful of verses–and everyone who can read takes a verse.
After we’ve read, I flip the card over, and we talked through the conversation prompts on the back.
It only takes about 5-10 minutes, and was short enough to keep my littles’ attention, but thoughtful enough to engage my older kids.
We’re doing our Christ-centered Christmas countdown again this year, and it is truly one of my favorite things to do at Christmas time.
We started a little late (I feel like we start every thing a little late! ๐ ) but that hasn’t diminished the tenderness of sharing these moments with our kids–and hearing in their own words how they feel about the Savior.
โญIt’s never too late to start.โญ
