While I love celebrating every stage of growing-up with my kiddos, I don’t necessarily want to buy all new stuff just because they hit a new age mark. ๐ I’m always thrilledย to find gifts that fit their interests now, but can still grow up with them a little. Take a look at these ideas!

Gifts that Grow Up for 6-8 Year Olds
1.ย Glow-in-the-dark stick-on starsย are fun at any age! They don’t cost much but they get kiddos really excited. Santa leftย these in our kids’ stockings last year. ๐
2, 3 & 4. At this age, kids really want to have a say in how their rooms are decorated–but I’mย NOTย totally into neon pink-and-blue Elsa-and-Anna bedding. These posters (Star Wars Galaxy Poster,ย Disney Princess Chalk Art Poster, andย Minimalist Avengers Poster)ย are a great compromise–renderings of favorite characters with an artistic tilt that will allow them to grow with kids as their decor tastes change.
5. I love the new wave of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M.) toys that have swept the toy scene over the past few years. One of our favorites areย Snap Circuits, a safe way for kids to learn about building electric circuits. We have theย Snap Circuits Jrย kit (only $20!) and our 7-year-old loves to put it together to play music, turn on a fan, and light a lightbulb. There are lots ofย other Snap Circuit Kitsย too, with different features–I think this Light Kit looks particularly fun!
6. Aย trampolineย is a bigger investment, but every parent I know who has one sings their praises, promising that their kids play on them forย hours and hours.ย We’ve got a move coming up in a few months, but I’m already planning to get one of these for our little pack next Christmas. ๐
7. We ownย & love thisย half-sizedย guitar!ย It’s a nice quality, kid-sized instrument and it only costs $40! Not bad for a good quality guitar. My daughter plays it a lot, and my husband has been known to pick it up and strum out a song for the kids, too. It’s aย great, inexpensive starter piece for an aspiring musician.
What are your kids getting for Christmas this year?
